HAIKU Poetry
April is National Poetry Month, so we are going to participate! Let's have some FUN in the SUN and be ONE with nature! Yes, we will be going OUTSIDE to write about ONE aspect of nature you can use as your central theme for writing a haiku poem - trees, grass, birds, wind, flowers, sun, rain, fog, etc. - then, we will have fun trying to create one (or more) haiku poems. Helpful Hint: Shorter words often work better with Haiku poems, so if you don't like to write a lot, this is the poetry type for you!
1. FIRST, watch the video about HOW TO WRITE A HAIKU POEM.
2. WATCH THE VIDEO AGAIN!
3. Write the Haiku Poetry Structure in your LA journal:
Line 1 = 5 syllables
Line 2 = 7 syllables
Line 3 = 5 syllables
TOTAL = 3 lines with a total of 17 syllables.
You can decorate your poem, write it in different colors, etc. We will share them later. Have fun!
